Presidential Votes Should Not Be Based on Race or Gender!

OK, the next Presidential election is coming up in 2008, and the Presidential Hopefuls are already beginning their campaign. I have started to research the options so far, and am not even able to come up with one or two from each party to hope they get the nominations. The more research I do about the possible candidates, the more concerned I become and the more convinced that we need other options!

I will agree wholeheartedly that Washington needs a really big change this time around, but so far I am not sure that any of the candidates will be a good choice. I am seeing a lot of posts on the message boards and forums that make me worry that this election is going to be turned into a three ring circus based on either the first woman President or the first black President. One thing that the American people need to remember is that the decision of who to elect as our next President should NOT be based on either Race or Gender. While I am not against the idea of either a woman or a black person as president, I am against these issues being the deciding factors.

The choice of who should be our next president should be based on the individual candidate and their beliefs and stands on the important issues facing our country today. I hope that when the time comes, the American people keep this fact in mind and make an informed choice. While I admit that we need major change in Washington, and I am leaning toward voting democratic, I really think that if we elect Hillary Clinton - because she is a woman or for any other reason - we will be in far worse straights than we are now. Please America, do your research and make an informed choice. She is already changing her stand on issues and has not even gotten the Democratic Nomination, how can we expect her to do what she promises IF she does get elected?
